What it is
Indicator out of 10 measuring how much the signals converge toward the same verdict. A conviction of 10 means all sub-scores (valuation, quality, momentum) point in the same direction. A conviction of 3 means signals contradict each other.
How to read it
A "Buy" verdict with conviction 9 is more reliable than a "Buy" with conviction 4. When conviction is low, it's usually because valuation and quality diverge — excellent company but expensive, or cheap but struggling.
Common reference points
- Very high — aligned signals8 – 10
- Solid6 – 8
- Medium — mixed signals4 – 6
- Low — contradictory signals< 4
Orders of magnitude, not a rule: the same number does not mean the same thing from one sector to the next.
What it does not tell you
Low conviction is often MORE informative than high — it tells you where to dig. When Polaris hesitates, there's a real tension in the case that deserves your attention.
