What it is
The sum of the three flows — operating, investing, financing. In other words: how much the cash balance grew or shrank over the period.
How to read it
It's the statement's closing tie: opening cash plus this change equals closing cash. No room for accounting interpretation.
What it does not tell you
A decline isn't alarming in itself if it funds profitable investment. What matters is the COMPOSITION of the three flows, not the total.
